Event page

Introduction
DraftKings’ event page serves as an extended view for users to explore a wider range of betting options beyond what is available on the lobbies. After observing user behavior, analyzing data, and conducting interviews with users, we identified a significant opportunity to redesign the page to better support parlay creation. The current event page, optimized for single bets, did not align with the behavior of users who frequently build parlays (bets involving multiple picks). Additionally, the design did not effectively encourage users to explore the full range of available betting options, which typically exceeded 100 within the event page compared to 3–10 in the lobbies.

Objectives
To align the event page with user behavior and simplify parlay creation, we set the following objectives:
Streamline navigation
Streamline navigation between related game events for quick access. Introduce swipe functionality to allow users to move quickly between events.
Enhance scores and stats
Enhance scores and stats within the event page to provide valuable insights, while indicating the progress of other related games to keep users informed and engaged.
Smooth and enjoyable experience
Ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience throughout the event page, with a nice transitions and scroll behaviours.
Encourage exploration the broader range of betting options
Expose users to more than just the 3–10 lines typically seen in lobbies and allowing them to discover the 100+ options available within the event page.
Leveraging the drawer component
Leveraging the drawer design for easy opening and closing of the event page to save time and effort.
Understanding Behaviors
The data showed that users relied on the event page for live betting, with experienced users increasingly using it over time. However, casual users often visited multiple pages and focused on only a few options. This highlighted the need to simplify navigation and encourage exploration of all available betting options.

This bar chart demonstrates the increasing share of live handle managed through the event page as users place more bets.
Proposed Solution
The redesign was created to address these objectives, offering a user-friendly interface tailored to parlay builders and encouraging exploration of more betting options. Key changes included:
Simplified navigation
Introduced a swipeable carousel at the top of the page, allowing users to quickly switch between related events without returning to the lobby.
Swipe right and left functionality to seamlessly move between events.
Enhanced scores and stats
Real-time game scores and a tracker for ongoing plays are prominently displayed to provide users with valuable context while building bets.
Segment controller such as Scores and Tracker allow users to dive deeper into stats and game progress for more informed betting decisions.
The progress of other ongoing games displayed within the swappable carousel, helping users stay informed about other events without leaving the event page.
Encouraging bet exploration
Organized betting categories (Game Lines, Player Props, TD Scorers, etc.) make it easy for users to explore a wide range of options within a single event, with a search functionality that helps users find markets within the event.
Popular or featured bets are highlighted to draw attention and help users discover unique opportunities.
Smooth and intuitive experience
Since the experience is very “text-heavy,” we aimed to create a clean, user-friendly layout that ensures seamless navigation and reduces cognitive load.
Subtle and smooth animations were added to transitions to make the interactions more enjoyable and engaging.

Conclusion
This redesign demonstrates the value of aligning product design with user needs to create a more engaging and intuitive experience. By addressing navigation challenges, enhancing real-time stats, and encouraging deeper exploration of betting options, the new event page can transform user engagement. The project serves as a strong example of how user-centric design can unlock opportunities for innovation and business growth.
